Asagao, 1-minute PM Japan 2018, Special Jury Prize
This is the A/V mapping piece we made for the 1 minute projection mapping festival in Japan, awarded with the special jury prize.
Japanese morning glory, or Asagao, was chosen by Japanese scientists for a world-first study using the revolutionary CRISPR, genome- editing tool to change flower color in an ornamental plant. What took nature nearly 850 years to achieve has taken less than one using the CRISPR/Cas9 system, indicating the power and potential of the science in our lives.
The aim of the project is to create a composition based on this scientific discovery and treat the building as the entity that evolves and changes over time. We wanted to express ideas and feelings such as chemical reactions, biological activities, molecules, growth, etc.
