Matman 2013 Bio:
Matman is one of London's most prolific djs - his rare combination of world-class technical skill, mastery of multiple musical genres and an acute ability to read and rock a diverse range of audiences keep him in constant high demand both in the UK and abroad. His dj career started back in the late 90’s, where Matt could be found playing Hip Hop, Disco, Funk, RnB, Reggae & DnB in his hometown of Bristol. In the present day Matman can be found rocking a diverse range of styles, from rocking high profile Hip Hop events to playing party sets of House, Trap, Bass music, mashups, and much, much more.
His combination of raw skills and party-rocking talent have earned him current residencies in London's hottest nightspots, from ultra-exclusive celebrity hangouts Bungalow 8 and The Box to world famous concert venues such as Jazz Cafe and HMV Forum. He has performed in over 15 different countries, at many major festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival & Soundwave in Croatia, and at parties for the likes of Wella, Bloomberg, the BAFTA awards, Absolut Vodka & the Gumball Rally. Matman has shared the stage with countless legends such as De La Soul, Roy Ayers, A-Trak, Estelle, Guru, Public Enemy, Q-Bert, Pete Rock, Asher Roth, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, The Noisettes, Jazzy Jeff, The Pharcyde, DJ Spinna, Marley Marl, Rodney P, Ty, Jehst, Blak Twang, DJ Premier and many, many more.
In Matman's battling years he has held the titles of UK DMC Supremacy champion, London DMC Champion, ITF World Finalist, and European Turntable Techniques champion. He also expresses his Hip-Hop roots as co-founder, Promoter, DJ and writer for London-based hip hop collective Droppin’ Science, and is getting set to showcase his production skills via his new label Ground Up Records. Earlier this year he released an acclaimed EP of mashups, including one featuring on Channel 4’s TV show ‘Rudetube’.
Alongside his multi-award winning brother DJ Daredevil, Matman has recorded remixes and cuts for the recently released DJ based Iphone & Ipad game 'Skillz', scooping an award for 'Excellence in Audio' in the process, and remixing tracks from the likes of Ministry Of Sound, Stones Throw Records, Hospital records, Ninja Tune, Om records and more. Matt has also received much critical appraisal for his role as on-stage dj / soundtrack provider for the theatrical show 'Krunch', & his many mixtapes & podcasts.
